Self Hypnosis can enhance the process of healthful living

“Self Hypnosis”

I would like to answer a few common questions regarding hypnosis and self hypnosis and how it can be used to help improve your life.

First, let’s getting something established about hypnosis.

Hypnosis is 100% voluntary.

No one can force you become hypnotized.

We have all seen those classic movies about a stage hypnotist that has a person cluck like a chicken or walk like a duck across the stage.

Or have you been with friends to a stage hypnotist that asks for volunteers to come up to the stage and they are then forced to do bizarre things?

Well, I am here to tell you that there are a few different types of people that interact with the hypnotist and if you look closely while at the event, you will see the hypnotist expertly gauge the volunteers. The performer is subtly weeding out the folks that are going to be unresponsive to the the act and they are politely guided off the stage. These people, for many different reasons, were not ready at that time!

The people that are left are totally game to participate in hypnosis and this is exactly the case with all hypnosis sessions.

You must be willing to try it.

Now, therapy sessions are not held that often on the stage in front of hundreds of people.

OK- so we’ve established that you need to be willing to be hypnotized.
The next hurdle is between the hypnotist and the client– not every relationship will create a strong connection.

Wherever the setting, on stage or in a comfy office, you need to completely trust the hypnotist in order to establish a strong connection that will result in hypnosis.
So, now that you are up on stage or more likely, sitting comfortably, I wanted to run through quickly the different stages of consciousness that are within any successful hypnosis session.

Guided or through self hypnosis, the stages are the same.
To begin your hypnosis session, you establish your Intention.
This is where you will state the exact result that you would like to achieve in your life.
This can be a visualization or a written exercise.
This is a real visualization of the habit that you wish to form in your life.
Habits are actions that you perform without even thinking- an unconscious action that takes no active thought for you to perform.
Normally to form a habit, you often need to work at it for a 30, 60 or 90 days.
Hypnosis is a way of quieting your conscious mind so your sub conscious can be accessed.
Using hypnosis to facilitate change, you can shorten this habit forming lead time substantially.

So you’ve got a great mental picture of what you are trying to achieve with hypnosis– great!
Let’s move on to the next step– Induction.

Induction into the hypnosis session is the process of getting your body ready.
There are a few different ways this is done– The Dave Elman Induction with the “Open your eyes. Close your eyes. Open your eyes. close your eyes. Relax.”
The more common form of hypnosis induction is the Progressive Relaxation Induction.
This is where you slowly relax every muscle in your body working your way from the very top of your head down to the tippy tips of your toes or vice versa (toes to head).
Now that you are relaxed into the induction, you are going to “place aside” any distracting thoughts or feelings that will not allow you to enter hypnosis.

This we call the Treasure Chest.

Open it up and place all the other thoughts that are not your intention into the Treasure Chest and close it up.
These thoughts you can go back to after the session though my guess is you will have a different view of these distracting thoughts.
Almost like you went on vacation for a week and you are coming back to a tidy house with a fresh mind.

The next step hypnotizing yourself, you will employ the Deepener.
This is where you move deeper into the hypnosis state allowing yourself to relax further– beyond any other time you’ve been relaxed.

A common method is the Stairs Deepener.
This is where you are going down a beautiful staircase, and with each step down you are going ten to one hundred times down.
At the bottom of the staircase, you are now in a calm and comfortable state.

Next, is the Zip File.
This is a step where you take your written Intentions, and upload them into your sub conscious mind.
These are the habits that you were intending to install into your conscious behavior.
You may not remember all of the habits, and this is OK because you can repeat the Intentions aloud consciously later to back up the session.
Next, to wrap up your self hypnosis session, you need to to the Call Back.

The Call Back is where you bring your conscious mind up again by counting from 1 to 10 and BAM! you are awake and feeling refreshed.

So, that is the basic anatomy of a self hypnosis session.

I am a very experienced Hypnotist.  I offer group and individual hypnosis sessions and train peple in the art of self hypnosis.

Self hypnosis is the process of using the structure outlined above and then mentally walking yourself through:
smoking cessation;
losing weight or cutting back your eating;
improving your memory;
increasing your  motivation to exercise;
increasing your reading speed;
improving your performance in a sport;
or increasing your self confidence.
Walking yourself mentally through any one of these intentions while in a hypnotic state is a pretty cool way of fast tracking your habit forming ability.

So, the basic process has many tools and facets.  This is just the tip of the iceberg.

So when you are ready for a change, let me upgrade you!!
